The Mareth Line was originally designed to prevent Italian colonial forces entering Tunisia from Libya. During World War II, the Line was occupied by Axis forces, and used in an attempt to hold the Allied northward advance in 1943. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-contrast-2-color has-text-color has-link-color has-alegreya-font-family wp-elements-a9ca90731b6e3cbd000baa0583aa2cdb wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:clamp(14.642px, 0.915rem + ((1vw - 3.2px) * 0.766), 22px);\">Today, many of the Mareth Line fortifications can still be seen.
